Grant: Clearing the Air- A grant to combat the teenage vaping epidemic

Purpose: In 2024, the FDA reported that e-cigarettes were the most commonly used tobacco product in the United States. 1.63 million middle & high students reported using e- cigarettes. In the rationale portion of this grant we will give you insight into how this has negatively impacted China Spring ISD students by sharing how many students (grades 6- 12) have been caught with possession of a vape on school grounds in the last three years. The grant will allows us to schedule an impactful presentation from the Steered Straight organization. Our goal is that all students abide by our student code of conduct which states: Students shall not possess, use, or give an e-cigarette device” then we must change our approach as an ISD to educate our students on the dangers of vaping by providing them with a relatable source: Michael DeLeon.

CHINA SPRING MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL BAND

Rachel Berg

Grant: Tune Up for Success Tuner Caddy’s for China Spring Band
  • $3375

Serves 250 CSISD Band Students

Purpose: Our students and directors utilize their tuners and microphone cords daily in our rehearsals and performances. Tuners make it so that our students can be accountable for their own sounds and tuning which creates the beautiful music that you hear. Right now our students place their tuners on the stands next to their music which makes it harder for them to see all of their music and makes their tuners susceptible to dropping whenever a student moves to quickly. Tuner Caddies will help to make rehearsal more efficient in multiple ways. One for students to see their tuners and to adjust more quickly without the need for constant stops and reminders and two without the dropping of tuners and damaging them.
